What is an upsherin?
An upsherin is a Jewish boy’s first haircut, traditionally celebrated when he turns three. Family and friends gather to share in the joy, often taking turns snipping a small lock of hair.
More than a haircut, it marks the start of his Jewish learning—a moment to begin discovering Hebrew letters, mitzvot, and the sweetness of Torah. It’s a warm, lively tradition filled with love and good wishes.
